Description

The 'Borough Guide' produced by Aberystwyth Council and the Edward J Burrows Company notes that the beach is a kaleidoscope of colours. The throngs of visitors enjoy a Promenade (including recent extension) of about 1 1/2 miles. Marine terrace extends the crescent of houses overlooking the beach. The promenade is beautified with flowerbeds and well-provided with seats. At high tide the visitor can sometimes see some grand 'rough sea effects' when the waves dash against the sea wall. Good music is played at the bandstand daily. The beach provides delights such as paddling, castle-building and romping for children. The guide also mentions capital bathing machines for older folks and boats for pleasant excursions in the bay at a reasonable price. Pebbles and rare stones found on the beach are often taken home by visitors.
