Description

Name:
Libanus Chapel

Denomination:
Congregational

Built: 1862 (see below)

Photography: John Ball
Date: 14 March 2003
Camera: Fuji Finepix S602 Zoom digital

Notes: Architect Rev Thomas Thomas of Landore (builder Mr Ram). Modified, altered or rebuilt late 1860s (builder S. Davies of Beaufort); 1904 (builder W. Davies of Beaufort); 1914 (builder T. Evans); 1916 (architect T. Roderick of Aberdare, builders W. Miles & Son); 1934 and 1958. Built in the Classical style, gable entry type. The front facade design probably dates mostly from 1916 but recessed side windows suggest that the walls, certainly the side walls, may be substantially as built by Thomas Thomas in 1862.
