Ebbw Vale, the road from Ebbw Vale to
Newport is down Stow Hill. I saw
amongst the Mob Pikes- of the description
of those now produced- persons armed
as I have stated attacked the Westgate
Inn there were Soldiers in the Westgate
that morning, the Mob used their Pikes

The Prisoner states I am perfectly free
from the charge and I thank God that I
am free. I had drank a Good deal of Beer
and one and the other were questioning
me, and I did say some things to them
that may be on their guard like my self
Page 3:
It was on Saturday that I first heard
from one and the other that it was their
intention to rise and on Sunday I went
from my own House to my Brothers to
know from him, whether he had heard
that they did intend to rise and he told
me he had heard that they did intend
to rise and I asked him if he and
my other Brothers would go with me -
altogether to Langunider to prevent the
Chartists taking us along with them, and
about 3 O clock Sunday Evening I and
my three Brothers and two other persons
went and we came back on Wednesday -
and I Knew nothing at all about it
till last night. I have nothing else
I want a couple of words more. I have
never been in their Lodge. I was never
asked to go to any of their Lodges. -
I was never asked to make any arms
