Description

'Why Not Tonight?' by Stafford Dickens was performed at the Colwyn Bay Repertory Theatre during the week commencing 5 January 1943. The cast were Enid Staff, Jack Howarth, Maurice Jones, Jean Ainslie and Basil Munro. The theatre continued with performances during the war, though the programmes were considerably thinner due to rationing. Notices were printed informing the audience that in the event of an air raid, an announcement would be made from the stage and a short interlude would follow to allow anyone who wanted to leave to do so. The performance then continued throughout the raid with another announcement signalling the All Clear.
