Description

By the end of the nineteenth century, Llandeilo had its fair share of performance venues, such as the chapels, the Civic Hall (or Drill Hall / Victoria Hall), Market Hall, and St Teilo's Church. These hosted countless concerts, fundraisers, and eisteddfodau, which drew audiences from far and wide. At one time, several eisteddfodau were held in the town each year, such as the 'Semi-National Eisteddfod', the chapel eisteddfodau, and the children's eisteddfod, such as this example.

This children's eisteddfod was held under the auspices of the ‘Rechabites Guild’ (Temperance Guild), with proceeds going towards the "Children of the Order of the Rechabites". The judges were Dr. T. Hopkins Evans, Liverpool (Music) and D. R. Griffiths (Ammanwy / Amanwy), Ammanford for recitation. Ammanwy was also the leader.
