Description
Wifred Charles Powell (1898-1978) was born in Garndiffaith. Lying about his age, he volunteered for service in the Royal Navel Volunteer Reserve (R.N.V.R) and later served as a wireless operator onboard the minesweeper HMS Hambledon when launched in 1917. Wilfred served in the North Sea based at Aberdeen. In the photograph, Wilfred is the one on the right wearing headphones
