Description

Miners Hospital after closure. The hospital was established at a large house, previously known as 'The Beeches' . The money to buy the building and fit it out as a hospital was raised ny miners via a 2d, ridsing to 8d weekly subscription. The hospital opened in 1923 at a cost of £36,000. It was enlarged over the years and at its peak had 174 beds and 24 A & E, called casualty then.
