April 10, 1873 THE REV. MORRIS M. JONES. DEATHS
March 5 at Old Man's Creek, Iowa, at 75 years of age, the Rev. M. Jones. He was buried on the 7ft in a ceremony performed by the Rev. Mr. Ijams, English Minister, and this reporter [W. Watkins]. Mr. Jones left a widow and many children, all grown, and many friends to grieve after him. He was born in Llanbrynmair, North Wales. His parents died when he was 13 years old and he joined the church when he was 18. He and Samuel Roberts were students together. He came to America m 1832 and finished his education in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was ordained to the work of ministry in Ebensburg and was co-minister with the Rev. George Roberts for many years. In 1839 he went to Radnor, Ohio and was there for seven years serving the Sunday School Union. In 1855 he came to this area of Iowa where, under his ministy, Old Man's Creek built its first chapel. After he gave up his sefiled ministry, he ministered to the Americans [English speaking churches]. He suffered heavy affliction and was had trouble breathing sinee the beginning of last fall. His breathing difficulties caused him to go to sleep in Jesus, with the hope of a better resurrection.
