Jim Bootle and his violin
A collection of items which tie together a single moment in the beginning of the first ever Urdd Eisteddfod, Corwen, 1929. James Lewis Roberts 'Jim Bootle' (1916 - 1978) played "Yr Eos", winning third prize in the solo instrumental competition. The piece he performed was Braga's "La Serenata", and the judge's feedback sheet has remained with the item in the family since. These items came to the People's Collection at the National Library in 2015, where members of the People's Collection team scanned the material, photographed the instrument and recorded the violin being played.
