Description

Aerial view of Rhos Point at Rhos-on-Sea, between the towns of Colwyn Bay and Llandudno. Where the groyns can be seen to the left of the relatively new breakwater, was a medieval fishtrap, that would allow fish to be brought in with the high tide, but as the tide receeded, they would be stranded in the trap, allowing the monks to collect them with ease. To the right of the breakwater, the actual Rhos Point can be seen as an angle in the coastal road. It is here that pier was located, but was dismantled in the 1954 after a fire. One of the tollbooths survives as a souvenier shop. Image taken in 2005/06.
