Duncan Brown

The village doctor was the first to get a television set and the interviewee remembers sitting on the pavement waiting to see the television arrive. He says he expected to see a picture coming out of the aerial on the roof. When a television set arrived at his house his parents thought ITV was 'common' and regarded American programmes as a bad influence. He was raised in an English-speaking house and moved to live in England, but when he returned to Wales he began feeling much more Welsh. He had decided to raise his own children without a television but when S4C was launched he bought a television again. S4C made a great impression over the years and has affected his nationality further. He is pleased that Welsh talent is tried and exhibited. He says science and nature programmes have been important to him.
