Description
Ingredients
half a pound young nettle leaves
four ounces hops
half a pound sugar
one lemon, sliced
one ounce ginger
one ounce cream of tartar
a little yeast
Method
Cover the leaves and hops with water and boil thoroughly.
Strain the liquid and leave to cool to blood heat, before adding the remaining ingredients.
Finally add a little yeast and allow to ferment overnight.
Strain, pour into bottles and cork securely.
This drink was regarded as an excellent tonic.
