Description

In 1327 King Edward II came to Llangynwyd to claim the castle, only to find it in the hands of his enemies. He is supposed to have hidden from them in a tree at Gelli Lenor Farm, before heading off to Caerphilly and being captured en route near Llantrisant. The trunk of the tree in which Edward is said to have hidden was in existence but its site is now marked by an Inscribed Stone "Cadair Edward II, 1327"
