Description

The Marquesas Islands are a group of islands in French Polynesia. In French they are known as the les Marquises or Archipel des Marquises or Marquises, and in Marquesan they are known variously as Te Henua (K)enana (North Marquesan) and Te Fenua `Enata (South Marquesan), which means 'The Land of Men'.

The club, similar to those being made from the 18th century onwards, was found in Swansea Bay by children in 1954. It is not known how the club came to be there, but it is likely it came from a ship which had visited the islands.
