Description

Air Raid Sirens were sounded when bombing was imminent and indicated that everyone should head to their nearest air raid shelter. This would then be followed by the 'all clear' signal when it was safe to come out of your shelter. A siren like this one would be hand cranked by a member of the Air Raid Precautions(ARP).
