Description

Pontardawe

These photographs contributed by Gareth Hicks.

On the reverse of both photographs it says 'Surveying Class, Summer Course, Pontardawe, July 1931'.
I assume the course was held at the Pontardawe Mining and Technical Institute, indeed the man on the far left in the first one has passing resemblance to John Henry Davies who became Principal of Pontardawe Mining and Tech Inst in 1933 and for 22 years prior was a Glamorgan County Mining lecturer.

In the first one my uncle David Davies (Tirbach)of Cwmgors is second from the right in the front row, and in the other one he is on the far right.
