This historic tavern is in the village of Laugharne, a short distance away from the boathouse where the poet Dylan Thomas (1914-53) lived and worked.

Clement Davies (1884-1962) was a native of Llanfyllin. He was elected Liberal Member of Parliament for his home county of Montgomeryshire in 1929 and retained his seat until his death in 1962. From 1945 to 1956 he was leader of the Liberal Party.
