About

Photographs and related material tracing the history of the Carmarthen Bay Power Station over a span of 44 years (1947-1991), all collected by David Leonard Jones (1934 – 1999).

"Known as Len to the world, dad and Grampi to us. Born in Pembrey in 1934, he moved to Kidwelly in 1959 after marrying my mother Ann and started work in Carmarthen Bay Power Station not long after. I remember as a child how he used to talk with pride and passion about his job at “the bay”. He used to come home and shake his overalls in the kitchen and now with a chilling reality, I recall the asbestos dust falling like snowflakes on the kitchen floor blissfully unaware of what was to come. Over the years, as his interested in photography grew, he complied this album and hoped it would be of interest to future generations. Len died aged 64 of emphysema, a lovely, kind, generous and funny man taken way too soon. We wanted the album preserved for posterity and hope it will be of interest to some."
